Traxler Counterattack
A trap for Black in the Italian Game: Two Knights Defense, Traxler Counterattack, Knight Sacrifice Line. White's natural-looking 7.Ke2 gives Black a winning attack on the king.
The moves
How it works
After ...Bxf2+ Kxf2 Nxe4+, the king has to go back to g1 or e3. Ke2?? lets ...Nd4+ and ...Qh4 hunt it down.
What it wins
Black gets a winning attack on the king.
How White avoids it
Nxf7 forks queen and rook, but ...Bxf2+! turns it into a hunt for your king. Take with the bishop, Bxf7+, instead. The safe move is Bxf7+.
